Eat Local

Climate change poses serious threats to both human society and biodiversity. Energy saving and carbon reduction have become imperative tasks. To reduce the energy consumption in food production, preservation and transportation, we launched the 'Eat Local' initiative. Choosing fresh, seasonal and local produce not only helps the environment, but also benefits our health by minimising nutrient loss. Consumer power is key to sustaining Hong Kong’s fisheries, agriculture and catering industries, which are rooted in our city's cultural heritage. 'Eat Local' not only bolsters these local industries, but also plays a vital role in strengthening food security.

Since launching the 'Eat Local' community in 2023, we have brought together over 240 members from the fisheries, agriculture, catering, food processing and business sectors. The network promotes collaboration and supports an eating habit that benefits health, the environment and society.
