Ocean Park Hong Kong builds on conservation and education as its cornerstones. We offer diverse teaching resources backed by over 30 years of experience. We actively share insights with industry partners and those passionate about education. Through these exchanges, we gain valuable experience and suggestions, unlock potential and innovative approaches, and drive the long-term development of conservation and education.
Talent Development
Ocean Park Experiential Learning Programmes
Since 2016, we have partnered with the University of Hong Kong to offer experiential internships to their students. The programmes target undergraduates studying education and students of Postgraduate Diploma in Education. To date, there have been over 170 participants. The programmes take them beyond traditional classrooms and campuses, introducing diverse learning modes to broaden the horizons of future educators.
The interns begin by gaining knowledge of animals, conservation, exhibit narration and customer service, while also observing visitors to understand their interests. They then design educational game booths and refine them based on our feedback, learning and improving through hands-on experience. Some interns have the opportunity to assist in school programmes, engaging students to share knowledge and conservation messages. Through these internships, the participants discovered that experiential learning can capture student's interest more effectively. They also gained insights into age-specific needs and honed their teaching skills through student feedback.
Youth Development
We take part in various youth development initiatives. Apart from the life planning programmes in Ocean Park and school talks, we also joined community events to share our experiences with the wider public.
