Bringing its mission beyond the Park’s gates, the Ocean Park volunteer team visited the Hong Kong Children’s Hospital today for the Ocean Hero Squad event. Comprising Ocean Park staff, Seahorse Rangers, and the Park’s Golden Age Volunteers—marking their 10th anniversary in conservation narration this year—alongside the Park’s beloved mascots, the team of 50 delivered fun and meaningful conservation and education experiences to the participants.

The two-hour visit brought a refreshing wave of positivity to about 150 participants, including child patients, family members and caregivers.

“At Ocean Park, our mission is all about creating fun and meaningful experiences grounded in nature and conservation. That purpose does not stop at our gates,” said Ivan Wong, Chief Executive of Ocean Park Corporation. “Today, seeing the incredible strength and resilience of these young heroes reminds us why sharing our passion for nature could also offer a powerful mental break.”

Conservation took centre stage at the themed workshops and booths where families explored practical ways to protect wildlife from marine debris. Meanwhile, empowerment flourished through playful learning games like “Feed the Turtle!”, giant panda conservation sharing sessions and creative painting workshops that inspired a deep-rooted care for nature.

This spirit of care was powerfully amplified by a collaborative, cross-generational volunteer team. Celebrating a decade of dedicated service, the Park’s Golden Age Volunteers joined forces with youth and teacher volunteers from the Seahorse Rangers, along with Ocean Park volunteers, to bring engaging games to patients, honouring the incredible courage of these young heroes. The joyful day culminated in lively performances and heart-warming close-up interactions with the Park’s mascots and friends, leaving families with unforgettable memories.
